Coming from a region where agriculture remains critical to food security and employment, Sisonke Hinana is building a farming enterprise that balances legacy with long-term sustainability. Based in Baccles Farm Village, Ntabethemba in the Komani area, her business, Bombani AgroGenesis Farmers is a growing example of how small-scale, community-rooted agriculture can deliver both economic and social value.
Founded in 2024 following the passing of her father, Bombani AgroGenesis Farmers was born out of continuity and strategy. Sisonke recognised that the farm she inherited was not just a family asset, but a platform for scalable impact. With the support of her family, she formalised operations and began positioning the business for growth.
The enterprise focuses on mixed farming, specialising in Brahman cattle, goats, chickens, and seasonal vegetable production. This diversified model allows Bombani AgroGenesis Farmers to mitigate risk, maximise land use, and provide consistent food supply to the Komani and Ntabethemba markets.
Operating in a male-dominated sector presented credibility challenges, particularly for a young female entrepreneur. Additionally, working without access to electricity required operational efficiency and innovation. These constraints pushed Sisonke to develop hands-on systems, optimise labour, and build deep knowledge of her land, strengthening the business rather than limiting it.

Employment creation is central to Bombani AgroGenesis Farmers’ business model. The farm provides year-round jobs and practical skills training in animal husbandry, basic veterinary care, soil management, and harvesting. By developing in-house skills, the business strengthens productivity while contributing to local economic resilience.
Marketing and brand visibility have been driven largely through social media. Despite operating off-grid, Sisonke has leveraged digital platforms to build trust, attract customers, and position Bombani AgroGenesis Farmers as an authentic, transparent agricultural brand. This direct-to-audience approach has expanded her reach beyond local boundaries and opened doors to future partnerships.
As she continues to build, Sisonke plans to scale the business into a sustainable agriculture hub, with a strong focus on youth training and skills development. Her long-term strategy centres on growth that remains community-owned, environmentally responsible, and economically viable.
Her message to aspiring agripreneurs is practical and clear - start where you are, use what you have, and allow passion to sustain you through the operational challenges. In doing so, Bombani AgroGenesis Farmers is not only producing food, it is producing a blueprint for resilient rural enterprise.
