Gqeberha, Eastern Cape – The beloved Splash Festival made a vibrant return to Kings Beach this Easter weekend, leaving locals and visitors buzzing with excitement after four days of unforgettable moments. From April 18 to April 21, the Nelson Mandela Bay community came alive with the spirit of togetherness, creativity, and celebration.
With over 40 live performances across four stages, the festival catered to every musical taste, from emerging local talents to showstopping sets by national icons. One of the weekend’s most anticipated highlights came on Sunday evening, when legendary South African band Mango Groove took to the stage, closing the event with a performance that had the crowd singing and dancing under the stars.
Food lovers indulged in a feast of flavors at the SPAR “We’re for Flavours” Food Tent, where celebrity chefs Pete Goffe-Wood and Justine Drake hosted live demonstrations and tastings that wowed the audience. Meanwhile, family fun was in full swing with the FUN4U Fun Fair, Easter egg hunts, and beachside activities that kept attendees of all ages entertained.

A standout feature of this year’s festival was its emphasis on local entrepreneurship. A diverse array of SMEs were given the opportunity to showcase their products and engage with festivalgoers, reinforcing the event’s commitment to community upliftment. Among them was @klukorpsociety, a proudly local brand that captured attention with its fresh, edgy fashion and authentic streetwear vibe.
The Galaxy Bingo Beach Arena kept energy levels high with thrilling five-a-side soccer and volleyball tournaments, while laughter echoed across the grounds thanks to comedic performances that brought an extra dose of lighthearted fun to the festivities.
As the final day wrapped up, a deep sense of pride in Nelson Mandela Bay was palpable. Not only did the festival deliver top-tier entertainment, but it also served as a platform for collaboration, cultural expression, and local business support.
The Splash Festival 2025 reminded us why it remains one of the city’s most eagerly awaited events. Until next year, these cherished memories will surely tide us over!
