The Mandela Bay Theatre Complex (MBTC) proudly presents the 5th edition of the annual Mandela Bay Jazz Legacy Festival, taking place on 29 and 30 May 2026 at the MBTC Main Stage, formerly known as the Port Elizabeth Opera House.
Celebrating the richness, legacy, and future of South African jazz, this year’s festival brings together an exceptional lineup of established artists, rising stars, and leading jazz ensembles from across the country for two unforgettable nights of live performance.
The festival opens on Friday, 29 May 2026, with the University Jazz Schools Concert featuring the NMU Jazz Ensemble, JHB Jazz Collective, and UKZN Jazz Ensemble — showcasing the next generation of South African jazz talent.
On Saturday, 30 May 2026, audiences can look forward to an outstanding programme featuring SANJO conducted by Phumlani Mtiti, with performances by Andy Ndlazilwana, Yolanda Notes, Monique Hellenberg, and Chosi. Acclaimed vocalist Nomfundo Xaluva will also take to the stage as part of the festival programme.
A major highlight of this year’s edition is a special tribute to legendary jazz musician Feya Faku, featuring some of South Africa’s finest jazz artists in celebration of his immense contribution to the country’s musical heritage.
The Mandela Bay Jazz Legacy Festival continues to position Nelson Mandela Bay as an important cultural destination while creating a platform that honours jazz excellence, artistic collaboration, and musical storytelling.
Tickets are available through Webtickets and will also be available at the door.
