“Online tradeshow made easy, whilst supporting local!”

Welcome to the ShopLocalPE online market!!!
This is a new platform designed by Caroline Morgan who has a well-established background in event software and this is what she said about it, “This platform isn’t the cleverest thing I’ve created; It’s probably the simplest! But that’s what people want – an easy way to browse an online market without having to have any technical knowledge.” This platform is called ShopLocalPE - it's purpose is to enable local businesses and their products to be showcased, and local shoppers to support them from home. The platform is also being used for a hybrid conference for Orthopaedic Association taking place in Cape Town later this month.

Let’s answer your most pressing question first – what does it cost?
Only R950.
That’s a one-off price for the full duration of the show (in this case 11 Nov – 16 Dec 2020)
If you join in late, that’s ok, but it doesn’t change the price.
What do you get for that price?
A basic stand page that displays the following (which you need to supply – more on that later)
Company/exhibitor name
Company/exhibitor logo
Brief description of the business
3 x product images (max)
3 x product descriptions (max)
2 x downloads or links, such as a pricelist or brochure (optional)
Contact email address for the exhibitor
Website address or SocMedia page
Headshot of exhibitor
Brief (preferably entertaining/quirky) bio of the exhibitor
You want more bells and whistles with that?
There are 2 ways to upsize your stand, if you have a bit of extra cash in your budget.
Buy a double stand for R1700 (nice discount there!). This gives you a bigger “floor area” and
makes you more visible.
Or add some optional extras to your basic stand:
Embedded video clip: R400 per video
Social media links: R150 per link
Additional row of 3 images/info: R500
Whatsapp button: R500
What can you sell on your virtual stand?
This event is heavily geared towards festive season shopping, so it’s more about bags and
biscuits than tyres and toilet paper. It must be locally made.
How did this come about?
There are many markets in Port Elizabeth, but thanks to covid lockdown, they were unable to
trade for most of 2020. While a few have reopened, many people are reluctant to visit crowded
spaces.
We’ve become quickly accustomed to online shopping. Plus many people who don’t usually sell
at a physical market for various reasons, are now more inclined to partake in an online one.
Add to that the tight economic times and a strong desire to “buy local” and...it’s just the right
time for this idea.
How will this event be marketed?
You’ll read about it in the papers soon, but most of the advertising will be done via social media.
When you sign up, we’ll send you some pre-made images to post to your accounts, or send to
your mailing list. Every exhibitor will be doing this, which will mean lots of virtual “foot traffic” on opening day, and we all benefit from that! (If you are into the geeky background stuff, the link-
back from the showcase site to your own business website will also improve your Google ranking)
For the duration of the event, we will be posting regularly, and highlighting different exhibitors
and their products. We’ll also be encouraging you to offer a discount/special on certain days, to
create additional draw.
You’re in? Great – here’s how to get started:
Drop us a mail telling us who to invoice. Remember to tell us if you want just the basic stand or
a double, and whether you want any of the extras listed above.
Once you’ve made payment, we’ll send you information on how to submit your images and info
to us. It’s easy – if you can send an email, you can do it.
What’s in the fine print?
You must produce your goods in Port Elizabeth or surrounds, or be a local agent/franchisee for
a South African business. So no imported stuff, no services, and you can’t be based outside of
the Nelson Mandela Bay area.
What you sell must be available for free delivery or collection in Port Elizabeth.
We reserve the right to decide whether your stand fits in with the ethos of the tradeshow, which
is encouraging PE people to “shop local” and support small businesses.
