"When God is about to do something great, He starts with a difficulty. When He is about to do something magnificent, He starts with an impossibility”, these are the words Sebenzile Zalabe also known as DJ Sebz/Radioman lives by.

The Port-Elizabeth-born lad started loving theatre in high school and at 17 he was already writing and directing school plays, won awards and hearts of many. After school he use to go to a local arts club, Paradise, and also took part in the junior gumboots dance team.


While studying towards his journalism diploma at Nelson Mandela Metro University, Zalabe joined KQFM, a local radio station, as a presenter and producer running a Hip Hop show called The Voice of Hip Hop, this show gave local artists like Abantu, Dangatye, Khululekani a platform to showcase their work.

The station manager seeing his potential decided to give him producing duties for Saturday breakfast show. This transition opened doors for him to take over the drive show when Stera “the main man” left for SABC show at Umhlobo Wenene.


The radio station gave this young man an opportunity to go and report on the Grahamstown National Arts Festival and this is where his love for theatre was again revived. He took part in two major international documentaries, Vukuzenzele and Masizakhe, which spoke highly of the Nelson Mandela Bay’s arts and education.


In 2009 the Nelson Mandela Bay arts and culture funded a film project called Bay Film Festival and this is where Zalabe wrote and directed his first short film called Sunset.


Radioman has done work for Hype magazine as a photo journalist reporting on the growth of Hip Hop in the E.C did workshops to uplift the art in the NMB His love of art has grown to not only music and film but also photography, he has exhibited his work in JHB constitutional Hill and NMMU.


Currently, this DjSebz with his love for arts a he manages to lead his team every Saturday on a radio show called LekkaMos at Bayfm. This show program focuses in playing local music and promotes local entertainment. Bayfm has afforded DjSebz to lead a local formidable partnership with an international festival called Imibala music festival. Also catch him on MpumakapaTV - Channel 260 every Sunday as a presenter for a TV show called Street Ministry.


In his radio journey he has interviewed the likes of Mandoza, Jean Grae, Gloria Bosman, Zakwe and more. DjSebz is now an ambassador of Bashula shoes, and recently released one of the two of his new singles called ANYWAY from his upcoming album called Frequency 101, dropping in August 2021.
