Grew up in Khayelitsha Cape Town, Wendy Mbele is a serial entrepreneur who is tech driven and passionate about creating solutions that can assist the society with technology tools to tackle our communities challenges. This incredible woman is also very fond of the wellbeing of the South African community at large, and fervent about seeing young women increasingly tapping into the tech space as she has noticed before that the tech industry is male dominated, and she believes this is the trend that needs to change. For us, it is a privilege to be sharing about all her different involvements and love for entrepreneurship.

Wendy Mbele is the founder and Managing Director of 4IRCare Health, a company that specializes in health technology to support organizations through custom healthcare software development, electronic medical records management and consulting. Recently, 4IRCARE introduced a fundraising initiative called the Pink Squad, which is a network of women in healthcare where they contribute positively and actively to the health, education and safety of women and girls in South Africa and Africa at large. One can tell that Wendy is about the development of the disadvantaged, and yes her background of various vital fields as an entrepreneur such as Information Technology, Human Resources, Strategy, Business Development and Project Management has enabled her to be this amazing tech savvy woman with a mindset to introduce initiatives to better South Africa.

We asked Wendy to share more about Pink Squad as it relates to the month of October and this is what she said, “Pink Squad’s main goal is to create equitable access and much needed healthcare services for women to be specific. These services will be delivered through technology and mobile alternatives to the underprivileged as they are mostly accessible to individuals with unlimited financial resources, currently. So in the month of October, Pink Squad will be partnering with community-based organizations to establish the need and implement practical solutions to ensure that all women can access the healthcare services easily”.

Last but not least, Mrs Mbele co-founded Sompisi IT together with Bhuti Mbele. Sompisi IT is a successful 100 percent black owned technology company with an experienced team of employees in Cape Town and Johannesburg. The company provides outsourced managed IT services by nurturing and growing in rich and innovative technologies e.g. digital transformation, software development and cloud telecoms. Part of the companies programs is to mentor graduates under their “Hire Me” campaign which they started 2 years ago and they still are finding ways to support and onboard small businesses to the tech world as the current growth for small businesses is through online presence. Currently, Wendy and her team are introducing the Community Health Foundation, an NPO which provides the South African public with remote healthcare services and the ability to make appointment and doctor’s visits via video sessions. This Remote Patient Monitoring initiative will play a huge role in decreasing face to face engagements, and also be of assistant to the public as it is a cost effective tool, that can allow doctors to monitor patients from the comfort of their homes.
