Let's get to know Lungisile Mdunyelwa, who is also known as Lush By The way - an artist from Mdantsane, East London. Lush By The Way is doing Soul music and Hip Hop, he is also a self-taught producer, song writer, Poet, MC and an aspiring motivational speaker.

How you are keeping sane during the pandemic as an artist, including how your jogging has been part of keeping you strong? " During these challenging times the only thing that has been keeping my sanity is my drive and energy to do better, to become better than I was yesterday. This attitude I’ve developed has found its way to my wellbeing and has taken my health to a better path. As we live in trying times it has been proven that indeed a healthy body equals to a healthy mind". We all need our minds to be intact and be one with our body’s as to gain control and stability while we are facing this pandemic.

Dedicating my self to a healthy lifestyle has actually kept me going even in difficult times I find joy, ideas, self-actualization through this running thing. It has taught me a lot about patience and confronting situations I thought were hard but actually needed my time, attitude and spirit.

You just dropped a new album – what is it called, what is it about, and who did you worked with on it? "Thank you for this question: The name of my current album is called A LOVEBITE PROJECT VOL 2. Yes there was a volume 1 before that I dropped back in 2017. The concept behind this project is mainly focusing on LOVE, I feel as if people have lost their way to love, yet they long for it to come, they have given up on on the idea of finding someone to grow old with whereas deep down I know when love comes they will jump for it because as human beings uThando yinto yethu sizelwe ngalo, sizelwe nalo. So my mission is mainly to resurrect the hope of love. I have worked with my brother Lunga Hooba Mampangashe of Iintloko Zeenyoka EC on a song called LOVE IS A TWO WAY STREET. Also featured a brother called C Bryan from Zimbabwe on my latest single called WAYAWAYA produced by Qasebeats from Nigeria. This song it's one of the songs on a movie called A GOOD PARABLE currently showing on SHOWMAX, a film by Norbet Kelving and Zinziswa Soga. All other songs are produced by me and the protoshoot of the sleeve by Songezo Langa of HVSL PHOTOGRAPHY, artwork by Luzuko Mali of Luzmatic Graphix".

In times where physical CD copies are not as popular – what makes you to stick with the CD model to share your music with your fans? "This came through as a demand from my people, they wanted the actual CD’z lol… and who am I not to deliver when my people request such? Lol.. in all honestly not all of us are into this cutting off cd’z thing and going only via digital platforms. Most of the people in the country still have DVD, CD players in their homes and still want to collect physical copies for keeps. So as long as that market is still open I will continue to have my music on the CD model".

We see you hitting the streets and delivering copies – how is that going, and how is the experience of having to be a musician and a distributor at the same time? "One thing I like about distributing my CD’z is the actual interaction and conversations I have with my people. The ideas and advice I get from my people and the love is unmatched and priceless. All these ideas have changed my approach on things and have developed me as an individual and you can only get this when u interact with the people and on top of that most of the people that buy my music are people I only met on social media, so touch basing physically means a lot. The CD is available for R100 only, it comes with both physical and soft copy".
