As The Konvenient Magazine, we honoured an invitation to attend a special meet-and-greet event hosted at the Boardwalk Hotel and Casino, where media representatives gathered to celebrate an important milestone for Sun Boardwalk. The occasion marked the official introduction of the establishment’s newly appointed General Manager, Sisulu Madondo, in what proved to be both a welcoming and celebratory moment for the hospitality destination. Representing the publication on the day was myself and Somila from our team, who had the opportunity to experience the occasion firsthand.
Leadership transitions within large hospitality establishments are always significant moments. They often signal the beginning of a new chapter one that brings fresh vision, renewed energy, and new opportunities for teams responsible for delivering memorable guest experiences. For an organization as prominent as Sun Boardwalk, appointing a new General Manager reflects a great deal of trust in an individual tasked with leading operations, inspiring teams, and continuing to strengthen the brand’s reputation within the region’s hospitality and entertainment landscape.
Madondo takes over the leadership role from Tati Tsunke and brings with him more than 26 years of experience in the gaming and hospitality industry. Over the years, he has built an impressive career working across a range of well-known establishments, including Frontier Inn Casino, Mmabatho Palms Hotel Casino Convention Resort, Meropa Casino and Entertainment World, and Sibaya Casino and Entertainment Kingdom. His extensive experience across these properties has helped shape his leadership approach within the dynamic gaming and hospitality sector.
His return to Sun Boardwalk also marks something of a homecoming. Madondo was part of the pioneering team that helped launch the casino in 2000 and went on to spend nearly a decade living in Gqeberha. Returning to a place where he once helped shape the early journey of the property adds a meaningful dimension to his appointment.
The introduction event provided the perfect platform for Mr. Madondo to connect with key stakeholders and members of the local media. The event was thoughtfully curated, striking a balance between formal engagement and the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere the venue has become known for.
During the programme, Mr. Madondo delivered a brief address, sharing his excitement about stepping into the role and leading a team that plays such an important role in Gqeberha’s tourism and entertainment sector.
