As we wrap up 2025, South Africa stands taller than it has in years, not because our challenges disappeared, but because our character showed itself in powerful, undeniable ways. This year, the world recognized South Africa as the number one country with the strongest entrepreneurial spirit, a title that speaks deeply to who we are, a nation of problem-solvers, risk-takers, and everyday innovators who find solutions where others see barriers. From township kitchens to corporate corridors, South Africans proved once again that resilience is our second language.
But 2025 will also be remembered for a turning point - 6 July, a day that reshaped the soul of the country. When one man chose integrity over silence, he didn’t just clear his own name, he lit a match under a culture long accustomed to impunity. The ripple effects are visible today, with more leaders, public servants and private figures being held accountable for their actions. South Africa is learning that integrity is contagious, and accountability is powerful.

In the same spirit of unity, the Purple Campaign emerged as one of the most unifying movements of the year. A simple colour became a national voice, connecting janitors, teachers, executives, students, parents, and CEOs in one bold stance against gender-based violence. It reminded perpetrators that South Africa is watching - loudly and that GBV will never again be a comfortable crime. Campaigns like this reaffirm that when we stand together, we are an unshakeable force.
And finally, history honoured us, South Africa became the first African nation to host the G20 Summit. That wasn’t just diplomacy, it was a global declaration that we are capable, competent, and ready to shape the world stage.
And yes - 2025 wasn’t perfect, but it was proof. Proof that South Africa is not just surviving. We are rising.
