Johannesburg, South Africa - Leading braiding and styling service Shonisani Braid has stepped forward in support of youth empowerment by contributing to the 125th Graduation Anniversary celebrations of the Charlotte Mannya-Maxeke Institute (CMMI).

The donation formed part of the institute’s Maxeke 125 Initiative, an initiative focused on recognising academic excellence and empowering young learners in local communities. The contribution supported top-performing learners at Morris Isaacson High School, including girls participating in the “One Home, One Garden” initiative.

During the celebration, deserving students received gadgets sponsored by MTN as well as gift bags that included Shonisani Braid products. The moment was made even more special when a personal message of encouragement from Shonisani Masutha, founder of Shonisani Braid, was shared with the girls.

Masutha expressed her excitement about being part of an initiative that uplifts young women and recognises their potential.

“We’re thrilled to support CMMI’s efforts. Empowering young girls is crucial for growth,” she said.

The partnership highlights the importance of collaboration between businesses and community organisations in creating opportunities for young people, particularly girls who are striving to succeed academically while contributing positively to their communities.

By supporting initiatives like the Maxeke 125 programme, Shonisani Braid continues to demonstrate a commitment to social impact and youth development. The contribution not only recognised academic excellence but also aimed to motivate learners to pursue their dreams and become future leaders.

Organisers believe the initiative will have a lasting impact on the students involved, helping to nurture confidence, ambition and community pride among young girls in the programme.
