Rescue dogs get ready to shine at Save-A-Pet’s Sunday show and market.

At the Save-A-Pet Shelter in Greenbushes, tails are wagging and excitement is building. Rescue dogs - some shy, some scruffy, all full of heart, are gearing up for their moment in the spotlight at the upcoming Rescue Dog Show and Planty, Bru! Vegan Market, happening Sunday, 30 November 2025.

From 09:30 to 14:00, the shelter will host a joyful celebration of second chances, where dogs once abandoned or overlooked will strut, sit, and show off their quirks in a series of fun competition categories. There’s “Top Treat Catcher,” “Scruffiest/Fluffiest,” “Cleverest Trick,” and even “Cartoon Character Dress-Up” - each one designed to highlight the charm and personality of rescue pups.

The event highlights the resilience and loving nature of rescue dogs while raising funds for their ongoing care. Entry to the dog show is R50 per category, and every rand raised goes directly to supporting the Save-A-Pet dogs - covering food, vet bills, and shelter upgrades. Spectators can join the fun for just R20 at the gate, with free entry for children 10 and under.

Alongside the dog show, the Planty, Bru! vegan market will offer plant-based eats, eco-conscious products, and local artisan flair. Live streaming by online radio station The Wireless will keep the vibe upbeat and welcoming throughout the day.

The Save-A-Pet Shelter, located on Old Cape Road in Greenbushes, has long been a safe haven for dogs in need.
