Gqeberha, Eastern Cape - The Nelson Mandela Bay Film Forum (NMBFF) invites the public and filmmaking community to engage with us, discover who we are, and reflect on what we have accomplished over the past year.

Our Chairperson and Executive Committee have long been dedicated to uplifting the Bay’s film industry, each contributing in different capacities over the years. The call to unite the sector has been long overdue, and the Forum proudly serves as that platform of collaboration, growth, and support.

Building and Growing the Industry

The NMBFF is positioned to guide and support young filmmakers while fostering collaboration with seasoned professionals to grow the industry collectively. In just one year, we have made significant strides.

Training & Development: We facilitated training programs for aspiring filmmakers, many of whom have since gained national recognition for their work.

Celebrating Excellence: Our members have been acknowledged in various spaces, from securing lead roles in feature films to winning international awards for Best Director, and even landing feature film opportunities with international studios.

Festival Engagement: The Forum has played a pivotal role in supporting film festivals across the Eastern Cape, ensuring knowledge-sharing and creating platforms for local talent to shine.

Industry Representation: Beyond creative work, the Forum has been engaging with government and contributing to shaping the film industry within our Metro, ensuring that the sector’s voice is heard and supported at institutional levels.

Strategic Partnerships

Partnerships remain a cornerstone of our work. To amplify our impact, we have aligned with key stakeholders in the arts and media space:

Mandela Bay Theatre Complex: Together, we successfully facilitated projects at the Iphulo Festival and Women Umanyano, both of which opened doors for meaningful industry collaboration. The help of Mr Ngonyama and his team has helped and housed our executive to be better positioned as a business.

MpumaKapa TV: Recognizing the importance of broadcast opportunities, this partnership ensures that our members’ productions have a pathway to reach audiences on television once filming is complete.

In addition, the NMBFF has had the honor of hosting respected figures such as Dr. Shelley Barry and Ms. Sivuyisiwe Giba, whose expertise and contributions have enriched our community.

Looking Ahead

The Nelson Mandela Bay Film Forum is committed to positioning the Bay as a hub for film excellence. We will continue to create opportunities, foster growth, strengthen collaborations, and work alongside government and stakeholders to ensure the sustainability and success of the film sector locally, nationally, and internationally.

We call on all filmmakers, stakeholders, and partners to join us as we shape the future of the industry together.
