Western Cape’s celebrated De Hoop Collection is expanding its travel offering with the launch of an exciting new establishment called “Friends of De Hoop.” The initiative aims to connect travellers with carefully selected getaway properties located outside the reserve, while still offering the signature quality and experience associated with the renowned destination.
The first property to join this new offering is De Hoop in Plett, a stylish self-catering holiday home located just moments from the pristine shoreline of Robberg Beach. Only a short one-minute walk from the sand, the property places guests within easy reach of one of the region’s most loved beaches while also providing convenient access to the vibrant attractions of Plettenberg Bay.
Designed with comfort, space and relaxation in mind, the double-storey home offers a warm and contemporary seaside atmosphere, making it ideal for families or groups of friends looking to unwind along South Africa’s famous Garden Route. With four spacious bedrooms, a dedicated children’s room and four modern bathrooms, two of them en-suite, the property comfortably accommodates up to eight adults and two children.
The home’s layout encourages relaxed holiday living. Downstairs features a fully equipped kitchen, complete with a separate scullery and laundry area fitted with a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer. The open-plan lounge and dining area flow effortlessly onto a sunny terrace and tranquil garden space, perfect for morning coffees or evening braais under the coastal sky.

Upstairs, guests will find a second lounge and a welcoming bar area that opens onto a generous deck offering garden views and glimpses of the ocean. This elevated space provides the perfect setting for entertaining or simply unwinding after a long day spent exploring the coast. For those returning from the beach, an outdoor shower allows guests to rinse off the sand before settling into the comforts of the home.
Beyond the property itself, the surrounding area offers countless experiences for visitors. From swimming with seals and browsing local artisan markets to whale watching during the season, Plettenberg Bay continues to draw travellers seeking both adventure and tranquillity along South Africa’s coastline.
De Hoop in Plett is now available for booking, with a minimum stay of three nights. Rates start from approximately R6,000 per night during the low season between May and September. Guests who book directly with the De Hoop Collection team before the end of July 2026 will also receive a 10% discount on their stay, along with a complimentary bottle of wine upon arrival.
It is worth noting that while the property forms part of the Friends of De Hoop offering, it is not located inside the De Hoop Nature Reserve itself.
Since opening in 2007, the De Hoop Collection has grown into one of the Western Cape’s most distinctive nature-based destinations, offering accommodation ranging from campsites to luxury villas within the reserve. The property also features the popular The Fig Tree Restaurant, known for its scenic views over the vlei and diverse wine selection.
With the introduction of Friends of De Hoop, the collection is expanding its reach beyond the reserve, offering travellers new ways to experience the beauty, hospitality and relaxed coastal lifestyle that the brand has become known for.
