Just Moisturize is a beard product founded by Nadine Elie who has lived in Johannesburg for 5 years but is back home in Port Elizabeth for now. Nadine graduated in Public Relations and is currently completing her Integrated Project Management at NMMU Business School.

Nadine Elie is a woman of many talents as she is a voiceover artist, visual announcement presenter, own her own brand consultancy company called Elies Brand Consultancy which focuses on strategic below and above the line branding strategic positioning. Just recently she just introduced her own beard oil start-up company called Just Moisturize where she makes, packages, distributes and supply barbershops with beard oil.

When did you started operating as JUST MOISTURIZE? “I started operating on the 23rd September 2020, I have had this idea for a long time because I really love beards. After Covid19 hit the world I had time on my hands, and for the past 5 months that's all I have been watching, reading and learning about - how to make beard oil according to skin conditions and hair textures including growth. My product stands out because of the elegant packaging, different fragrance essential oil variety. The oil texture still gives men the ability to hug people and not leave any oily sticky residue and men really smell amazing when they put it on not only for themselves but their partner/partners benefit”.

Any challenges you faced when started to implement your idea, especially finances as most individuals need capital to implement their ideas? “Yes, financial aid has been a need just for purchasing oils. Also sourcing of different types of oils is time consuming. Financing myself has forced me to budget and choose between that amazing clothing item or saving the money for repurchasing certain needs of the business. The influx orders has brought immense gratitude yet it comes with the need to actually employ someone but I don’t have the finances to add someone. On the other side approaching stores and barbershops is always scary, and many say NO yet I still continue to approach barbershops, hair salons and stores in hopes that my beard oil gets put on their shelves”.

The face to face marketing approach has been on hold due to lockdown, and what method have you been using to push your product? “Digital platforms such as Facebook Market, Instagram separate business account and zoom meetings are my process liaising components and word of mouth as well. Thus far I will be having a stall for 4 Sundays at Summerstrand, supplying barbershops and hair salons with beard oil stock on a monthly basis. I am working on an online store for purchasing, and national and international delivery”.

Lastly, any message you would like to share to another dreamer out there? “You will be amazed at how many people are encouraged by you just deciding to place your own dreams first. The best advice I got was from one of my brothers when he said “stop sleeping on yourself" that changed the direction of my life and I intentionally decided to do that unapologetically. One of the best quotes I heard that keeps me motivated is from Vusi Thembekwayo “The sun is never in a rush bit it's always on time" Keep moving, keep bossing, keep failing forward get up and get what YOU deserve”.

Please share your products and delivery prices:

National Delivery is extra R50, International deliveries are custom related and location dependent, Prices ranges from R80 for the 50ml bottle, R100 for the 100ml. Barbershop and Hair Salon stock prices - R55 for the 50ml , R85 for the 100ml.
