Pure, raw and non-irradiated honey.

Honeyholic is a startup started by the duo named Jessie Malherbe and Yaron Perelmut who are both currently residing in the Free State, Bloemfontein. Jessie is a qualified Chef, who also has done Communication studies and completed her part-time Project Management diploma in CTU, while her colleague Yaron has a Bachelor of Law (LLB).

“We started Honeyholic in December 2020. We chose to take a path with honey because it allows us to take something that may seem simple, like honey, and show everyone the many ways in which it can be used and show our customers and spectators that there is no such thing as ‘just honey’, that has the same taste everywhere. We realise that there is a lot of ignorance surrounding honey, and we would like to enlighten the public about honey (Natures Gold). Flavour, colour and fragrance are all dependent on the flora (flowers, trees and plants) the bees forage on. Our honey is pure, raw and non-irradiated whereas many other honey suppliers are often irradiated (or heated) to prevent the honey from crystalising, which is a natural occurrence in pure raw honey".

In starting, what were your challenges and how did you overcome them? "We started during the Coronavirus pandemic which was a blessing in disguise as the demand for healthy immune boosting product escalated, but at the same time it was difficult to do any face-to-face interactions and forced us to start off using online platforms, such as Facebook Marketplace and OLX”.

Any highlights since inception? “The privilege to be able to supply the public with a quality product and to receive the positive feedback and encouraging voice messages is the highlight to us. We are just thankful to be able to make a difference in peoples’ lives in these trying and health compromising times. Also partnering with Alpha Lifestyle Nutrition, Fresko Gelato in Loch Logan Waterfront, and also in process to team up with other big brands".

Lastly, are there any retail stores with your product thus far? "There are no retail stores involved with us as yet. People are welcome to order through our Facebook, Instagram or WhatsApp channels".
